A harsh wind made it difficult for both teams and Caldecote started the match facing into it. The play was therefore usually in the Caldecote half and Joe and George were doing well as usual keeping out the attacks. The only way for Caldecote to get close was by someone talking the ball all the way up the pitch. Beard made a great effort doing this, running the ball from the half way line but pressure from a defender spoilt the final shot. Caldecote were all keeping it together well until Celtic played a long high ball which caught everyone by surprise and Celtic went 1-0 up. Kieran made a valiant effort with a shot that the Celtic keeper struggled to hold on to but it didn’t quite get there. The whole match was punctuated by constant throw ins and corners and from one corner Beard made a great cross in which Gary got a firm header on but it went just wide. George made a strong shot that looked likely but the Celtic keeper just got to it. Overall the team played well in the conditions with Joe getting a deserved man of the match.

Brickhill Wanderers B 5-Caldecote 5
Caldecote started strongly and with much of the play around the Brickhill goal, Sam found a way through the defence with a great header to score Caldecote’s first. Almost immediately Brickhill replied with a long shot across the Caldecote goal to equalise. George, Stephen and Phil were working well winning the ball and passing forward and Gary had several shots. Kieran as usual was running everywhere and also made a couple of shots and it was his pass to Gary that turned into into Caldecote’s second. Brickhill made the equaliser to make the half time score a very fair 2 all. Caldecote came out fighting in the second half with Beard making Caldecote’s 3rd, 4th and then 5th goal before Brickhill could find a response. A long Brickhill shot was well saved by Nick but the rebound was picked up and Brickhill made their 3rd and Caldecote didn’t seem to have any more to stop Brickhill getting their 4th and 5th. A great game for both sides. Man of the match went to Phil.

Caldecote 1- Maulden Magpies 2
A bright and sunny afternoon saw the evenly matched teams enjoy a game of continual end to end play, with both sides making chances but only rarely getting the better of the respective defences. It wasn’t until 25 minutes into the game, following a desperate goal line clearance that an excellent Maulden corner was met with a cracking header to open the scoring. The rest of the first half and much of the second saw attack,Phil, Liam, Mitchell and Alfie among others, working to get the ball deep into the second half, but just not being able to get anything past the Maulden goalie. The frequent threats from Maulden was kept at bay by Nick’s superb goalkeeping and determined defensive blocking by Kieren and James D. Against the run of play Maulden got another goal late in the second half which spurred Mitchell on to finally get one in the net with 10 minutes to go. Even with renewed enthusiasm, the determined efforts of Caldecote midfield and forwards could not get another past the Maulden keeper to level the game. Man of the Match -James Day.

The second half started with some good football from both sides which saw Caldecote concede a penalty making it 3 – 1. Caldecote scored again to give Kieran a well deserved hat trick taking the score line to 4 – 1. Bedford Park Rangers scored again to keep the match going at 4 – 2 only to concede the last goal from a great cross from Mitchell which resulted in an own goal with pressure from Sam. Caldecote 3- Bedford FC 5
A cracking start to the match with Caldecote forcing the play into the Bedford half from the off, saw Sam striking a very near miss off the crossbar with barely a minute gone. A couple of minutes later the continual pressure paid off with Beardy opening the scoring against Bedford. Sam, Beardy, Gary and co kept pushing forward supported by a confident midfield, with Nick keeping the Caldecote goal secure against the occasional Bedford breakthrough. As the blustery wind made the flight of the ball ever more difficult to predict, Bedford managed to sneak in two goals to take a temporary lead before Beardy equalised and Sam immediately got another to set the half time score at 3 -2. The second half saw Bedford playing a lot stronger and after 20 minutes they managed to level the score line, despite Caldecote’s best efforts Bedford’s forwards kept getting through the defence and another goal wasn’t far behind. A fifth goal from Bedford with moments to go sealed the match at 3 – 5, a disappointing result for Caldecote after such a strong start.
Jan 6th
Bushmead Wanderers B 1 - Caldecote 4
Caldecote a bit thin on the ground with no substitutes so they hoped for no injuries. A strong start with Kieran, Stephen and Gary all making shots within the first 5 minutes. But it was Bushmead that made the first breakthrough and scored after 10 minutes. Caldecote were slow to respond but did manage the equaliser in what was a very even first half. The second half saw Caldecote step up a gear with Mitchell, Kieran and Sam all making shots and Caldecote winning a number of corners in reward for keeping the pressure on. Joe and Lou were working well keeping the ball away from the Caldecote end and George had a very quiet game in goal. Mitchell put a ball through to Gary at the half way line and he made an impressive run to score the 2nd. Kieran had a frustrating match getting close with a header and several shots but not finding the net. Sam pushed a ball through to Gary to make the 3rd and then Sam scored himself to make the final score of 4-1 to Caldecote. Alfie had a great match to take Man of the Match.

Houghton Regis 11 - Caldecote 1
Caldecote defended well however conceded an early goal after constant pressure from the opposition. The second goal followed in quick succession with Houghton Regis building upon their home advantage.
By half-time Caldecote were down 7 – 0. The quality of the opposition was evident again in the second half, despite this Caldecote battled on with some excellent football. The team mounted a number of counter attacks on Houghton’s goal narrowly missing the target on four or five occasions. With the score line at 9 – 0 Kieran gained possession of the ball in the mid-field going past several defenders to score a well deserved goal for Caldecote. The game finished 11 – 1 to Houghton Regis. Well Done, Lewis, Gary, Sam, Stephen, Kieran, Alfie, Phil, James B, Louis, Mitchell, Jay, Joe & Nick. Man of the Match was awarded to Kieran.

Brickhill Wanderers B 1 – 7 Caldecote Youth
For the first time in a few years the lads found themselves playing at Mowsbury Park, where they had suffered several defeats by the Valario teams in previous years. The confident looking Brickhill team opened the scoring with only five minutes of play and things didn’t look too bright. The lads rose to the threat and, with some long, accurate passing, brought the ball repeatedly to the Brickhill end, with Gary making the most of a long run to level the scoring only a few minutes later. This looked like it could develop into a close match when Stephen cleared the ball from Caldecote penalty area with enough power to see bounce over the Brickhill keeper and into the net, the longest goal this season by a mile. Consistently winning and controlling the ball in midfield and at the front kept Caldecote increasingly in charge of the game. With Mitchell, Gary and Phil being supported by a strong midfield the pressure continually threatened the Brickhill defence until Gary got another to see a confident Caldecote go into the halftime break at 3 – 1 up.The second half saw Stephen take a free kick which found Mitchell who then drove it past the Brickhill keeper. Gary soon made his hat trick and the game seemed fairly well sewn up. Unfortunately, one of the opposing forwards landed awkwardly and an ambulance had to be summoned, with the poor lad whisked off to hospital with a suspected broken shoulder, we hope he recovers soon. Two more goals from Gary and another from Mitchell saw the afternoon finish with Caldecote at 7-1, their highest win that I can remember.Man of the Match – Mitchell.

Leighton Utd A 9 – Caldecote 0 League Cup Game
Leighton showed their strength from the start and the play was almost entirely in the Caldecote end for the first half, testing Nick to the limit. Several excellent saves were made, but it was inevitable they would soon score. Lou, Alex, Joe and James were also under pressure in defence and by the end of the half Leighton were 6-0 up. Notable efforts were made from Gary and Phil up front with a couple of impressive shots.Despite the score, Caldecote were determined to show they weren’t giving up and played a more aggressive second half. George, Kieran and Liam were working extra hard pushing the ball through and Mitchell, Gary and Phil had several runs and shots. Liam had a couple of well placed free kicks but the Leighton keeper was on form and kept everything out. The final score of 9-0 showed Leighton were the better team on the day – but Caldecote should be proud for battling on. MoM went to George.
Nov 18th
Bedford Youth 3 – 1 Caldecote Youth
The weather has certainly taken a change for the worse of late with all the spectators trying to keep warm under thick coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. The bitter chill, as well as a sprightly opposition, seemed to encourage the boys to keep on the move. Right from the kick off a very quick pace forced tight end to end play with no room for error but a brilliant break by Kieren opened the scoring after only five minutes. With every ball closely fought over and several cracking saves from Nick, the Bedford attack eventually broke through and levelled the score after another ten minutes. With both teams determined to win and Caldecote seeming to be controlling most of the play, it was surprising to see Bedford break against the run of play and get another goal fifteen minutes into the second half. Despite some vigorous attacking play by Caldecote the equaliser just wouldn’t come, with Bedford snatching a third goal the result was sealed. Over all a very good match played against very strong opposition, with the scoreline not reflecting just how close the game really was. Man of the Match - Liam

Caldecote 6 – Bushmead Wanderers A0
Early pressure from Caldecote resulted in a goal by Gary after the opening few minutes of play. Both sides battled for possession with Caldecote maintaining the home advantage. Despite attacking football the Bushmead keeper kept them in the game saving several attempts on goal. A goal from Bushmead was disallowed due to an off-side touch on the goal line. Caldecote scored their second from excellent mid-field play from Kieran resulting in a great goal from Sam just before half-time. The second half started as the first with some good football from Caldecote. The third goal was scored by George from anotherCaldecote corner. This was shortly followed by a fourth goal by Jay. Not content with this Jay scored another making the score 5 – 0 to Caldecote. Max Millar’s free flowing football saw Stephen score Caldecote’s sixth goal ensuring a great Team performance by Caldecote. Well Done Max, Graham, Gary, Sam, Stephen, Kieran, George, Liam, James B, James D, Louis, Alex, Jay, Joe & Nick. Man of the Match was awarded to Sam.

Caldecote 1 - Celtic 2
Poor light made the ref decide to start early and a strong wind was in Caldecote's advantage to start. Play was evenly matched in the first half with one early opportunity of a free kick from Liam just outside the box and a couple of quality shots from Gary, but Caldecote just couldn't seem to find their way through. The half-time score of 0-0 was more due to some quality defending and some excellent saves by Nick. The second half saw Nick tested again with several early shots by Celtic, but Caldecote fought back with shots from Sam and Gary. Then another free kick was taken by Liam and was placed right on Gary who took it round the last defender and over the Celtic goalie. However, this play seemed to spark off something in Celtic and they came back with several well timed passes and attacks on the Caldecote end. It wasn't long before their attacks paid off and they scored. Caldecote couldn't find the response and it wasn't long before Celtic got their second. Caldecote tried hard to fight back - but Celtic had strengthened their defence and it seemed an impossible task. Man of the match deservedly went to Nick for keeping the scoreline to just 2-1.

Maulden Magpies 1 – Caldecote 0
An understrength Caldecote side battled hard and defended well with only 11 players, failed to find the back of the net with some great efforts from George, Kieran and Sam.Position changes at half time spurred the Caldecote boy's on but good defending from Maulden stopped the ball going in the net. With Liam,Joe and Alfie defending well kept the score to 0-0 until the last minutes of the game with Nick making some good saves. A great game with the boys showing great spirit.A game you did not deserve to lose. Well done boy's really proud of you all.
Team: Nick, Joe, George, Jay, Lewis, Alfie, Dylan, Kieran, Liam (man of the match) and Sam.

Caldecote 1 -Leighton Utd B 4
A strong start by Caldecote, continuously pushing the play into the Leighton's half. An early long shot by George was fumbled by the Leighton keeper and rolled slowly but surely towards the line before at was saved by a defender at the last moment. Gary showed strength again with several runs and shots with Danny also making a lovely lob shot from 30 yards out. Given the pressure Caldecote were putting Leighton under it was not long before Gary put in the first goal. This seemed to wake Leighton up and they made a few good runs and managed to get the equaliser. Lou put in a great long range lob from just over the halfway line which looked very dangerous for a couple of seconds - but ended up just over. The second half could have gone either way, but Leighton seemed to find their passing skills and began to make a number of pitch length attacks and soon got their second goal. George and Kieran were making a great effort winning tackles and pushing the ball up - but Leighton's defense soon closed Caldecote down. At the back, Joe and Liam were keeping most of the leighton runs down and Nick made several great saves, but a bouncing lob from Leighton found its way just over the line to give them a 3-1 lead. A chance came from a Free kick which Liam took well soaring past the Leighton wall well on target - but the Leighton keeper had it covered. Leighton got another to make it a final 4-1. Man of the match went to Joe for some great defending.

Bedford Park Rangers 1 – Caldecote 2
The game started with some end to end play with Caldecote giving as good as they got with several shots from Kieran and Gary testing the BPR defence. The Caldecote forwards, continually striking at the goal, dominated the first half. However despite winning several corners, nothing seemed to want to cross the opponents’ goal line. A fresh pair of legs when Jay came on seemed to give the lads that extra little push and Kieran masterfully headed in the opening goal from an excellent corner kick. Ten minutes into the second half, BPR managed to squeeze a ball past the Caldecote defence to even the scoring. From this point on every ball was fought over with both sides determined to get the winning goal. When BPR were awarded a penalty with only ten minutes to go things didn’t look good but Nick made a brilliant save giving Caldecote just the boost they needed. It was not long before Gary made it 2 - 1 – the first away win of the season. This was a good match between evenly matched teams with everyone on both teams giving it their best. Man of the match went to Kieran.
30th Sept
Caldecote 4-Bushmead 2
Caldecote dominated play in this game from the start. The first few minutes saw shots from George, Kieran and a great left foot from Gary. It was clear they would score and a real pro sequence of fast, accurate passes from George to Dillon to Gary ran rings around the Bushmead defence and Gary put away Caldecote's first. Bushmead made a dangerous break and the keeper was left to face the shot - but NIck just got his foot to it for a great save. Sam got a shot in that was just over then another great pass through from George set up Gary for his second. Straight off in the second half with Lou winning a tackle and pushing the ball perfectly for Gary to make another shot - just saved by Bushmead. Then one of Bushmeads attacks ended with a neat lob over the keeper and Bushmead were back in the game. A nice pass from Sam set up Gary for his hat trick (and tenner!) and a free kick was well taken by Joe - but didn't quite get the power to beat the Bushmead goalie. Further shots were made by Alex and Dylan - but it was Gary who found the net again to make it 4 for Caldecote. Bushmead made another - but it was really all over by then. Man of the match went to Lewis for a great effort.

Caldecote 0 – Dunstable Town Icknield 3Cup Match
An excellent first half of football by both sides with good defending from Alex, Stephen & Liam. Under Constant pressure from the opposition Caldecote were down to nine players with injuries to Louis & Dylan going down 1 – 0 just before half-time. The second half started well with good runs from the Mid-Field of Gary, Jay, George & Lewis in an attempt to get the important equaliser. Our strikers Sam & Dylan could not break down Dunstable’s good defence.End to end football saw Caldecote concede a second goal despite numerous saves from our goalie Nick in an attempt to keep us in the game. The third goal occurred after a fingertip save slipped past the keeper into the back of the net. The final score didn’t reflect the effort or overall performance of the Team, unfortunately we will have to wait until next season for another go at the Cup. Man of the Match was awarded to Nick for his outstanding goal keeping.
16th Sept
Marsh Farm Tigers 2-Caldecote 1
A very strong wind added to the challenge for Caldecote in the first half. But coming out fighting, the boys battled the ball into the Tigers half several times with early shots from Gary and George. A free kick to the Tigers looked really dangerous but was well saved by Caldecote. Just as it was looking like Caldecote had held the first half to a goal-less draw, a Tigers shot was skilfully saved by the Caldecote goalie - but the loose ball was put away giving them the lead in the last 30 seconds.Even more determined in the 2nd half, the Caldecote boys kept up the pressure on the Tigers with good work from Liam, Kieran and George providing Gary with a couple of close shots. Finally, Gary found the back of the net and Caldecote equalised. Caldecote were looking strong with a few more shots from Sam and Gary but then a deflection off the post saw the Tigers take the lead. Sensing victory, the Tigers defense closed in and Caldecote found it almost impossible to get through. One shot from Gary found the post, but deflected away again - not the luck this time. Man of the match deservedly went to Gary.

Caldecote 0 - Houghton 9
Caldecote would have hoped for a very different start to the season. Houghton were pushing from the off, and forcing the home team to defend hard. Houghton took the lead early on, despite some excellent saves and hard work from Liam and Joe. Gary and Sam were unlucky, as they were continually closed down, Dylan tried to get through, but the goalie stood his ground. The play was fairly even in the first half, until a free kick was given to Houghton with a minute to the half time whistle, and they made it 2 - 0. The second half was far more testing for the home side, they were tiring and the reds took advantage. They kept finding the target, and Caldecote could do little to stop them. Despite a couple of valient attempts by the Whites, Stephen shooting wide, and Gary in the dying seconds of the game, the match was lost. Caldecote had lost their pace, and Houghton banked the points. Man of the Match – Liam.
