Match Report from :
April 6th
Caldecote 2Toddington Rovers 3
Sunday morning saw a white start with snow lying on the ground. Play was postponed but with some early phone calls once the snow had gone saw the game rescheduled for the afternoon. With the pitch clear the boys soon got in to some early exchanges with a couple of good shots from both sides. Jamie and Josh showed some slick passing but were frustrated by some big Toddington defenders. Toddington were to push in to the Caldecote half and were unlucky not to score early on had it not been for some good defending by Harry, Daniel and Giles. Forcing a corner Toddington were able to put pressure on Caldecote and a mix up between Giles and Harrison saw Toddington slip the ball in the back of the net for the first goal.
Not to be out done Caldecote soon got hold of the ball and put Toddington on the back foot. With the return of Samuel in midfield saw some good hard tackles going in at some crucial moments. Harry kicked the ball forward in his usual manner for Samuel pick up in the Toddington box but he was brought down by two Toddington players and a penalty was awarded. Jamie stepped up to power the ball in the back of the Toddington goal, leaving the keeper no chance 1-1.
Toddington were still strong and were able to pin Caldecote back in to their half. A strong run down the right side by Toddington saw a finely executed goal which out Toddington 2-1 up a score line was taken in to half time. The second half started in the same manner as the first half ended with some good exchanges. Leon the smallest player on the pitch for Caldecote made some fantastic runs up front and showed some real promise. Toddington were not to be outdone and were quickly heading towards the Caldecote goal and made it 3-1 fairly early on. From then on the legs of Caldecote seemed to stop and did not make any inroads in to the Toddington half. With five minutes to go the ball came loose in the centre of the Toddington half and with a flash of the right leg saw harry “the boot” smash the ball in to the back of the Toddington net. A little lift for the boys but the game ended 3-2 to Toddington.
Team: Harrison, Josh, Harry, Giles, Samuel, Jamie, Daniel, Leon, Jayden, Man of the match: Giles
March 30th
Caldecote 0 – Leighton Utd B 6
It was a glorious sunny spring morning with clear blue skies and warm sunshine. Caldecote played up hill in the first half, conceding early possession to Leighton. Leighton nearly scored from a header after an early corner kick. Leighton score after 5 minutes from a good low shot. Jamie had a chance to equalize but shot high clearing the goal bar by only an inch. Leighton used the slope on the pitch, gaining the advantage and scored a second goal from a corner. A third goal was conceded whist Caldecote had one man off the pitch with an injury. The boys started positively in the second half playing down hill but with an up hill battle to win. It was end to end football with both teams enjoying an equal possession on the ball. Jamie had several shots on goal helped out by Josh, James and Leon, but seemed so always hit the post. Giles, Daniel and Harry stopped many of Leighton’s attacks. The score was greatly reduced by some great saves by Harrison who was playing despite an injured hip. Leon put in some heavy tackles in midfield and several sliding tackles taking the opposition by surprise, sometimes laying down and playing the ball. Leighton scored a break away goal making the score 4 – 0. The Leighton keeper made a superb save from a big kick by Harry. Leighton scored two further goals in the last few minutes making the final score 6 – 0.
March 16th - Match abandoned waterlogged pitch
March 9th
Bedford Panthers B 4 – Caldecote 3
The team played well this week and were unlucky to have an end result of 4 – 3. The Panthers were hot off the mark with out a passing kick from the centre but instead taking the Caldecote players by surprise, went straight for goal. However some good tackles saw control of the ball revert back to the Caldecote players and some great shots on goal. The defence worked hard and Harrison made some brave saves. Jamie was plagued by the Panthers, often having most of the opposing team surrounding him. However, undeterred, he broke through the defence with the support of Josh, Samuel and Giles, to score yet another hat-trick. The team did lack the usual vocal support from Andy who presence was missed. Team: Jamie (Man of the Match), Jayden, Josh, Giles, James, Samuel, Harrison, Austin, Leon, Daniel, Harry.
Mar 2nd
Caldecote 2 – Wootton 4
Bright starts to Mothering Sunday, with a big crowd turn out and clear skies albeit a bit windy. Caldecote started with the wind and down the slope. Caldecote started strong, some good passing in mid field saw Jamie soon taking shots at goal. The Wootton keeper made some very good saves. Wootton made some good attacks narrowly missing the goal on a number of occasions. A corner to Wootton saw the ball clipped by Jamie who sent it over keeper Harrison. Wootton 1-0 up. Wooton soon broke in to the Caldecote half once again and with a strong attack they were to score again making it 2-0. Heads dropped, but a few bellows from Nigel got the boys going again. Daniel and Austin worked hard to win some good tackles Jamie managed to claw a goal back for Caldecote to take them in to half time 2-1 down. From the start of the second half Caldecote seemed eager to get a second goal and Josh and Daniel tested their defence again. Wootton however took charge and were soon pressing Harry, Jayden and Leon in defence but a third goal was scored by Wootton. Samuel seemed to always be on the floor trying to win the ball back but we unable to unlock their defence. It soon went to 4-1. James could have pulled one back but with too many Wootton players in the box the ball stayed out. Not to be out done Caldecote managed to make in roads in to the Wooton half and won a free kick, up stepped Harry “The Boot” to take it and with one swift swipe of his right foot saw the ball sail in to the back of the Wooton goal. Looking for a third Caldecote battled on but the whistle blew and ended a frustrating game for Caldecote. Team: Harrison, Harry, Leon, Daniel, Austin, Jayden, Giles, Josh, Samuel, Jamie, James. Man of the match: Daniel.
Feb 24th
Caldecote 4 - Dunstable Town Icknield 4
The tie saw the bringing together of two teams who fought in the cup earlier in the season where Caldecote came second on that occasion. The boys soon got stuck in and took the game to Dunstable. Some good work in midfield by Samuel saw Jamie released on goal but only to shoot wide. The ball bounced about between the teams with Josh making a good stand in the centre of defence. Harrison soon stamped his mark on the game making some good early saves; he certainly was up for it. Following a mix up in the Caldecote defence Dunstable took the lead from a well finished goal. As in previous games Caldecote got back in to the game and set up camp in the Dunstable half and shots from Giles and Jamie went by the posts. Dunstable put together some good passes but were unable to convert them in to goals. Jamie managed to break free and put Caldecote back on level terms and it stayed that way until half time. The second half started as the first finished and early exchanges saw little reward. Harrison maintained his smooth handling and produced some good saves. Dunstable were able to take the lead from a well worked corner as Caldecote failed to mark their players. Jayden, James, Leon and Austin who made some very telling tackles at the right time to deny Dunstable. Caldecote bounced back and scored their second from a fantastic run by Jamie down the right before hammering home a brilliant shot that hit the top left hand corner of the Dunstable goal. Dunstable were soon to get back in to their stride and were able to score two quick goals to put them 4-2 up. With a minute and half left to go of injury time the writing looked on the wall for Caldecote but they were not going to be out done. Samuel surged forward to release Jamie to make it 4-3. From the restart Jamie managed to hustle the Dunstable players and won the ball back. It broke free for Samuel who linked up with Josh and a back pass from Dunstable saw the ref award a free kick to Caldecote. Up stepped Jamie who smashed it in towards the Dunstable goal and it went in the back of the net after hitting a couple of players on its travel. 4-4 was the final score, a well fought game. Team: Harrison, Josh, Daniel, Samuel, Jamie, Giles, James, Austin, Jayden, Leon Man of the match: Jayden.
Feb 17th
AFC Kempston Colts B2-Caldecote 2
Despite a brief delay to allow the frost to go it was clear Caldecote had an uphill battle as Kempston had bigger lads than Caldecote. This did not put them off, and from the off Caldecote took the game to Kempston. Soon in their stride, they attacked the Kempston goal with both Josh and Jamie having shots. Kempston counter attacked on more than one occasion, Harrison making his usual saves. Half way through the first half saw the ball bounce around in the Caldecote box, a good firm challenge from Samuel and the ball was kicked out the box. A dubious penalty awarded to Kempston. Their biggest player knocked it in the back of the net, Harrison not standing a chance of saving it. Caldecote soon back in their stride with some good work from Harry at the back saw Jamie put Caldecote level. The contest evened itself out and but from a mix up in defence Kempston scored again to leave Caldecote trailing again. However Caldecote soon had the ball in the Kempston half, a lightening run down the wing by Josh saw him score from the edge of the box. What a great goal. Half time level at 2-2. Good performances from Austin, James and Leon who were brought on at the start of the first half and Caldecote were soon dominating the game taking a lot of the possession. Kempston, when they did managed to break away, looked threatening - Harrison had to make a few saves to prevent them scoring. An even contest the second half but no more goals. A good performance by the boys. Josh battling hard all the way through saw him awarded man of the match. Well done all. Team. Harrison, Harry, Saxon, Josh, Jamie, Samuel, Giles, Leon, James, Austin, Jaydon.
Feb 10th
Caldecote 2 – Barnfield Colts 3
First half saw our 7 men against Barnfield's 6.They pushed through the Caldecote defence and got the first goal. Jamie scored at the start of the second half, closely followed by a second goal to Barnfield who were now up to seven men. Caldecote fought hard and had a few near misses but again Barnfield scored from a corner 10 minutes before the final whistle. Leon scored a suberb goal with barely minutes to spare making the final score 2:3 to Barnfield. Team: Leon (1) (M.o.M), Harrison, Jayden, James, Giles, Austin, Daniel, Harry, Joshua, Samuel, Jamie (1),Saxon.
Feb 3rd
Houghton Wanderers 0 – Caldecote 6
Arriving at Houghton for the 3rd time this season, Caldecote won the toss and decided to go with the strong wind behind them. Early on Josh and Giles did some tough tackling and kept the ball firmly in Houghtons half. The early pressure paid off with a scramble in the box and Jamie netted from 5 yards. The pressure was kept up and a neat back heel from Harry passing through to Jamie saw his 20 yard shot saved. Immediately the ball came back out and Jamie scored with a delicate shot into the bottom right hand corner. Against the wind Houghton struggled to get past the half way line and some trademark sliding tackles from Saxon kept them at bay. With 15 minutes gone Jamie completed his hatrick, again picking up a loose ball from a defensive error. Their keeper made an excellent save from a Harry 30 yard clearance, and Sam was clearing up any loose balls from midfield. Giles then took a great free kick into Jamie who turned and slotted home for his fourth. Just before half time the ball fell to Sam who coolly slotted into an empty net. 5 - 0. The second half was tougher going into the wind, however Caldecote still pressed forward. An attack forced a deliberate handball for a penalty that Jamie struck well, but the keeper held, however Jamie got straight back on the ball, was denied again, then after Josh forced a corner he struck the underside of the bar. He eventually got his 5th goal of the game responding again to a loose ball. Houghton came back strongly and two great clearances by James and Jaydon standing strong in defence ensuring our goal remained untouched. Josh picked up the pace and scored, only to be disallowed. Going forward again Harry struck another 25 yarder, which caused havoc in the Houghton defence, but their keeper stood tall. A rare attack from Houghton saw them hit the post late on, however Harrison was quick to react and the clean sheet was intact. MoM was Harry who chased every ball, with some great clearances and two great long shots - Team Harrison, Saxon, Harry, Jayden, Daniel, James, Josh, Sam, Giles, Jamie.

Toddington Rovers B 2 - Caldecote2
On a very windy and cold morning Caldecote attacked Toddington’s goal from the start with the ball rarely making it into Caldecote half for the 1st 10 minutes. A free kick was awarded to Caldecote for a hand ball which Jamie took and scored from at least 20 yards out into the bottom left corner. As the 1st half went on Toddington started getting into the game but never troubling Harrisons goal with Harry Josh and Saxon's defence keeping Toddington out, Giles and Samuel also doing a great job in midfield. The second half started as the 1st with the Toddington keeper the busier of the two. Ten minutes in, Caldecote lost concentration with most players chasing the ball and no marking Toddington scored 2 goals in 5 minutes, with Harrisons great save stopping a 3rd. Once again Caldecote took control of the game and put pressure on the Toddington defence, eventually scoring an equaliser - a well taken corner from Jamie, deflected in. Final score 2-2. Man of Match to Jjamie who never gave up! Team Harrison Harry Giles Josh Saxon Austin James Jayden Leon Samuel & Jamie(2)
Jan 6th
Caldecote 1 - Leighton Utd B 4
Nice sunny start to the year. An even battle through the first half saw Caldecote with perhaps having slightly more possession. Harrison was only troubled one shot which slipped by the post. Caldecote took back possession and with a surge on the Leighton goal, saw Jamie take a shot from outside the box which whistled by their keeper giving the score 1 – 0 to Caldecote. Josh suffered yet another injury when the ball hit him in the face. Jayden came one and took up the position of defence. Good work by everyone with Jamie, Samuel and Giles battling hard in mid-field. The second half started well but Caldecote could not make the advantage of going down hill count. Leighton soon drew level and went ahead by two goals in a short space of time 1 – 3. Harrison saw his goal come under pressure making some good saves to stop the score line becoming greater. Caldecote battled hard but could not get back the deficit. Leighton managed to squeeze a fourth goal giving a final score of 1 – 4. Team: Harrison, Harry, Giles, Samuel, Jamie (1), Daniel, Josh, James (man of the match), Leon, Jayden, Saxon.
Dec 16th
Dunstable Town Icknield 3 – Caldecote 1League Cup Match
The boys were up bright and early to travel across to Dunstable and lined up for their first cup tie on what looked a good pitch. Caldecote with a few players short soon got in to their stride and seemed to have found some early Christmas spirit from the drinks cabinet as they soon took control and battled hard and kept play in the Dunstable half. The Caldecote defence was tested on a few occasions and between Austin, Josh and Harry kept Dunstable at bay, with Harrison (the acrobat) making a good couple of saves. Mean while Jamie, Samuel and Giles battled hard up front with Samuel putting in some crunching tackles which saw the Dunstable trainer on the pitch on more than one occasion. Giles was soon replaced by Leon as he was clearly unwell. There were some good breaks made by both teams with Caldecote unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Jamie seemed to have been brought down in the box. Harry (the boot) made good use of the right foot making sure goal and free kicks ended up deep in the Dunstable half. The half time whistle soon blew with the side’s level.
The sun made a welcome appearance at the start of the second half along with Jayden who replaced Austin. The same amount of enthusiasm from both teams carried on and this saw Caldecote hold the ball inside the Dunstable half. Jamie made his usual run through the defence and a shot on goal went past the keeper and was kept out only by two of the Dunstable defence. Dunstable made head way into the Caldecote half and were able to put the ball in the net to give them a lead against the run of play. The boy’s heads never dropped and soon they were back in the mix putting some good tackles. With some good bits of passing Caldecote made their way up the left side and a cross from Samuel saw Jamie equalise to set up a finally worthy at any level. The whistle blew and at 1-1 extra time was needed.
The pace of the game never stopped and Caldecote were unlucky when they hit the post. Harry kept things straight at the back but with three minutes left two quick goals saw Caldecote go down 3-1 a score line which certainly did not reflect the game.
This had to be the best the boys had ever played together and the realisation of their hard effort and defeat soon hit home with some tears of disappointment from more than one or two. A big disappointment but they put on a fantastic performance which did Caldecote football club proud.
Team: Harrison, Austin, Harry, Josh, Samuel, Jamie Giles, Leon, Jayden. No man of the match this week as every player was as good as each other. Well done boys and Merry Christmas.
Dec 9th
Sandy Colts 10 – Caldecote 2
The day started both bright and dry, a little bit better than recent weeks. Panic was soon to set in as keeper Harrison was nowhere to be seen. More importantly from the crowd point of view was there was then no sight of tea and coffee. Fears were soon calmed as from on the horizon came the black Range Rover and from the boot along with Harrison the blue box appeared to big cheers from the crowd, for what was later to be a welcome brew. The teams lined up and both started well with Caldecote taking early possession and keeping Sandy in their half of the pitch. Sandy’s defence was a tough cookie to crack and Caldecote despite some good moves could not penetrate to force home their advantage. Sandy made some very good breaks out of defence and through some slick moves Sandy had the ball in the back of the Caldecote net to go 1-0 up. Caldecote remained positive but Sandy increased the pressure on the Caldecote defence to put a second away. Caldecote were able to break in to the Sandy half with some good play between Josh, Samuel and Jamie but could not claw back the deficit. Some positive defending by Austin (sporting his new jazzy glasses) and Jayden prevented Sandy going further ahead. The clouds soon gathered and things looked gloomy for Caldecote as Josh suffered an injury to his leg which had him carried off and prevented him taking any further part in the match. Josh’s injury made way for Harry (the boot) to come on and take up a holding role in mid field. Giles was also quickly on the pitch making a valuable contribution. Before to long the rain came down yet again and Sandy managed a couple more before half time to go in to break 5-0 ahead. The boy’s huddled round as the weather got worse and turned to Nigel for inspiration and went out with a bit more hope for the second half. Some early exchanges between the two sides made interesting watching for the crowd but it was Sandy who battled the rain to put a few more goals away. Caldecote with Harrison making some great saves between the posts stopped the tally being higher. Caldecote were to make a break through mid way through the second half with some very good play from a Caldecote throw in to see Jamie slot home Caldcote’s first. Nigel put on some fresh legs in the form of Saxon, James and Leon who seemed to fit in to flow of play. James making some very positive tackles in defence. Caldecote were unlucky to have a free kick awarded against them for what seemed a minor infringement which Sandy was able to convert in spectacular fashion. Caldecote were quick to respond and saw Jamie dribbling through the Sandy defence to put a second away but with the game coming close to the end was little consolation. Jamie was very lucky not to have won a penalty for Caldecote as he made his little run through in to the Sandy box only to become the meat in a Sandy sandwich. Jamie lying face down in the mud saw play waved on. Come on referee!!!! With the rain hammering down the game finished with Sandy winning 10-2. Having battled for most of the game Giles was awarded man of the match but well done to all the boys, never give up!!!! Team: Harrison (the acrobat), Jayden, Austin, Harry (the boot), Daniel, Leon, Giles, Josh, Samuel, Jamie, Saxon.
Dec 2nd

The first 5 minutes of the second half Harrison kept Caldecote in the game with 3 great saves, The Panthers eventually scoring from another deflection. Caldecote responded with a well worked goal, a throw in from Josh to Samuel who put Jamie through to score his 2nd into the top right corner, 2-2. Despite Caldecote’s best efforts Kempston scored again before half time. Caldecote attacked well scoring the first goal in the second half. Kempston put the pressure on scored a further two goals. Nov 11th
Barnfield 2 – Caldecote 0
Caldecote only had seven players this week and started off slowly. Barnfield managed to get two lucky goals at the start of the game but Caldecote’s heads didn’t drop. Jamie, Josh and Samuel were finding it hard to create chances but were battling really hard. In the second half Caldecote were better and Harry, Daniel, Harrison and Jaiden weren’t letting anything past them at the back. Caldecote were attacking more and were unlucky to score on several occasions. The game still ended 2-0 although Caldecote didn’t deserve to lose. Team: Harrison, Jaiden, Daniel, Harry(MoM), Samuel, Josh and Jamie.
Nov 4th
Caldecote 3 – Houghton 1

Good team work quickly saw a second goal. The first half saw possession mainly with Caldecote with the occasional break by Houghton. Good defending and goal keeping saw a 2 – 0 score at half time. Houghton came on strong in the second half. Caldecote defence remained solid and marked their players well. Caldecote made several good tackles gaining possession of the ball and repeatedly penetrated Houghton’s defence. After many unsuccessful shots on goal one finally hit the back of the net giving the team a comfortable lead. Moments before the whistle blew, Houghton scored giving a final score of 3 – 1. Sam scored a great goal having pushed through the defence. Jayden and Harry displayed some excellent defence tactics and despite Harrison’s best efforts Houghton fought hard to recover the score. After some confusion it was agreed that the final score was 5 5.
30th Sept
Caldecote 1 - Houghton Regis 1
Another grading game, and Caldecote started confidently. Houghton fought hard from the whistle, but were unable to hold position like the home side, and this showed throughout the match. Jamie put the Houghton defence under pressure immediately, and within minutes scored for Caldecote. Houghton tried to put the pressure on, but Daniel, Harry and Leon kept them at bay. Giles and Jamie worked well up front, putting the away side under pressure, each time they had the ball, at least five players were surrounding them. It was an even match, but the difference was in the positioning, Caldecote kept their positions well throughout, and Houghton had a tendency to swarm, making it difficult for Caldecote to break through. Houghton equalised half way through the first half, and Caldecote were forced to defend hard. Jamie. Samual and Giles all had runs at goal during the second half, and Daniel had a long run too, but the home side could not get the winning goal. Harrison (Spiderman) did his job well and kept a clean sheet for the second half. James, Austin and Josh worked hard to keep the away side out of the target area, and the end result reflected an even game. Well done boys! Team; James, Jamie, Harrison, Giles, Daniel, Leon, Harry, Jayden, Austin, Samuel, and Joshua.
23rd Sept
Caldecote 2-Leighton Town 14
An early start for the under 8's this week. The team looking fantastic in their new 'Tarmac' sponsored kit had the best of the opening few minutes and were unlucky not to take the lead with Jamie, Giles and Joshua all looking bright and passing the ball really well. Caldecote again coming up against older players and a team which had been together longer matched the visitors and it looked like this would be a close game. Leighton then used their experience and stepped up a gear scoring some well taken goals which although Daniel, James, Austin and the fearless Harrison made life difficult for the attackers, they could do little about. Caldecote scored two excellent goals through Giles and Samuel. In the second half, Caldecote were unlucky not to score, from Giles, Jamie and Samuel all had chances. Leighton scored 7 but it didn't dampen the home side's spirits. One more grading game next week, and divisions will be sorted.
16th Sept
Langford 12 Caldecote 1
The first few games will be challenging for the new under 8's side, as they are grading games. Caldecote seem to be facing teams that have been together much longer, and Langford was no exception. They were a little stronger than the whites, but that didn't stop Caldecote striving on. Josh had the first shot at goal after a long run, but the Reds Goalie stood firm. Langford were constantly looking for the back of the net, and despite good solid defending from Daniel, and Jayden, were soon in front. Samuel, Leon and Giles worked hard, and Jamie seemed to cover the entire pitch. Harrison (Spiderman) pulled off some amazing saves, and the scoreline could have been much worse. Caldecote did not give up, despite Langford going 4 - 0 up. Jamie had a confident run through the Reds defence, and scored a well struck goal, but Langford responded with two more before the half time whistle. The second half saw the Reds run away with the game, despite good efforts up from Jamie and Josh, and most of the team being forced to defend hard. Six more goals to the home side, but the whites were not disheartened, and the grading will reflect the difference in the teams they have played so far. Team : Austin, Josh, James, Jamie, Harrison, Giles, Harry, Jayden, George, Samuel, Daniel and Leon.
9th Sept
Under 8’s
Caldecote 0 - Toddington 6
Caldecote started brightly, but Toddington seemed to be a more experienced side, and put the defence under pressure early on. Austin, Daniel, and Leon fought hard, and Harrison pulled off some great saves, but Toddington strove on, and soon scored. Samuel and Joshua both worked hard in midfield, but the away side were pushing for the ball constantly, and scored four more goals before the half time whistle. Caldecote came out for the second half and dug deeper. They made chances, and Giles and Jamie both had shots at goal. Toddington only managed one goal in the second half, so overall a sound result and a better second half for the home team as they seemed to gel. The boys enjoyed their first league match, and despite a few injuries, look forward to the next challenge. Team - Austin, Daniel, Leon, Jamie, Harrison, Giles, Harry, Jayden, George, Samuel, James and Joshua.
