Caldecote 2 – 6 AFC Kempston Colts A
This was always going to be a tough match for Caldecote against a much higher placed team and it started with Kempston scoring after a couple of minutes. Goals were coming frequently for Kempston and Caldecote just couldn't seem to get started. By half time Caldecote were 5-0 down. All credit to the boys - they could have just given in defeated, but the second half saw them much stronger and they made several attacks on the Kempston end. Before long Gary made it through and placed the first of Caldecote's two goals with his second coming just 5 minutes later. Unfortunately despite the strong battle they couldn't close that 1st half gap and the final score was 6-2 to Kempston. Stephen was man of the match for a great stint as stand in goalie.

Friday 17th October – Arlesey 5 – Caldecote 0
On Friday evening the U16s got a chance to play a floodlit “friendly” game on Arlesey's first team pitch. From the relative comfort of the stands we watched the boys get off to a bright start, creating more of the chances during the first fifteen minutes. Gary and Scott chased hard up front with the midfield working hard to supply them. However Arlesey are an accomplished and well disciplined side and began to get their passing game together and find ways around Caldecote. They also proved to be very strong on the ball, and assisted by some indecision in the Caldecote defence Arlesey led 3-0 at half time. Caldecote came out strongly in the second half and worked hard to take the game to Arlesey, but with better passing and positional play Arlesey were a tough outfit to control. Congratulations to Caldecote who battled to the final whistle. Team: Ben, Jack, Stephen, Joe, Louis, James, George, Kieran, Lewis, Phil, Scott and Gary. Man of the Match – George.

Maulden Magpies 1 – 3 Caldecote
A fresh, breezy autumnal afternoon in the splendid Wrest Park saw the seemingly evenly matched teams start the league game with Caldecote playing up hill and against the wind following the loss of the toss.
A bright start from Caldecote, with the ball concentrated well in the Maulden half, made for a promising beginning but the Maulden team made the most of a loose ball and somehow grabbed the opening goal.
Caldecote maintained the pressure but were continually thwarted by the strong Maulden defence. However around 25 minutes in persistence paid off and Gary got the equaliser. This was the spur the boys needed for a further 2 goals in a relatively short space of time; the first from Jack and the second from Nick, leaving them 3-1 up at half time. The second half opened with promising play, a strong defence and mid field keeping the ball going forward. Phil, Gary and co kept the pressure on the Magpie’s goal keeper but their efforts went unrewarded. Luck was certainly not with them when a hand ball on the Maulden goal line resulted in a penalty that could not be converted into a goal. However Ben was resolute at the other end and saved a later penalty that could have put Maulden back in the game. A solid performance from the Caldecote team showing determination and flexibility with several players making strong shots and crosses that could easily have lead to a much more impressive score line. The boys remain unbeaten in the league so far this year. Ben, Kieran, Stephen, Louis, Lewis, Gary, Jack, Scott, Phil, Joe, James and Nick. Man of the Match – Stephen.

Caldecote 8 - Kensworth 0U16s
Top of the division and an unbeaten run so far this season – well done !
Caldecote started the game well without really troubling the Kensworth keeper. Phil's early free-kick saved easily. A long ball out of defence resulted in Gary through on goal who nodded the ball over the keeper for 1-0. Almost straight away Dunny went down the right wing put in a great cross and Gary found the bottom corner. Scott was forced off with a nosebleed and was replaced by James. Several efforts from Kieran, George and Gary to increase the lead were either denied by the Kensworth keeper or watched go just wide. The third goal came from a through ball by Phil down the left wing that Gary just latched on to, he turned and curled the ball over the keepers head and into the empty net. Gary's fourth came from a defensive error. A clearance from the defender, hassled by Scott, hit the Keeper and fell straight to Gary who scored easily from the edge of the box. Caldecote continued the pressure but three great chances fell to Phil who wasted them all. In the second half nothing happened until Kieran won possession outside the box and sent the ball curling into the far corner of the goal. At 5-0 the game looked over. More great wing play from Dunny made it 6-0 when he played the ball across the box to find George who hamered it past the keeper. Gary had a chance for his fifth but found the car park instead. Kieran burst in to the box, battled his way through two challenges and found the net for his second. In the last five minutes, Stephen went in goal to give Ben a chance up front, a great tactical substitution by Max when Ben found the back of the net from a beautiful in-swinging corner from Phil. Ben could have had a second but decided the clubhouse was easier to hit. All in all a good performance considering the heat. Man of the Match went to Dunny, fully deserved for such a great performance. Well Played: Ben, Jack, Stephen, Nick, Cooper, Dunny, Kieran, George, Phil, Gary, Scott and James.

County Cup Heath & Reach 2 – Caldecote 4
On a glorious sunny afternoon in Heath & Reach (well maybe not) our first goal came 11 minutes after kick-off.Stephen scored after Gary’s shot failed to reach its destination. Our second goal came 27 minutes into the game after their goalie made a mistake and Gary was there on hand to tap it in. At half time Max enjoyed a cuppa from his brand new Arsenal mug (mind you don’t drop it!).7 minutes into the second half came our third goal; Phil was taken down inside the penalty box.Ben came up to take it and scored a cracking penalty, making it 3-0.A good effort was headed by Lewis who nearly converted a cross.
The opposition kept up their determination and after 30 minutes they were awarded a penalty, which their number 12 scored, the ball slipping just past Ben’s fingers.Five minutes later they scored their second goal.Caldecote pulled together and fought back and our fourth came 3 minutes from the end.Phil took a corner, which was deflected by Kieran, and Scott was on the end to put it in the back of the net.Well done lads.Man of the match went to Joe, for playing even when injured.Team:Ben, Gary, Lewis, Louis, Jack, Joe, Kieran, Nick, Phil, Scott and Stephen

Totternhoe Youth 2 - 5 Caldecote Youth
Caldecote moved to the top of the table and again came through a tough away game with no subs. Totternhoe although a big team with some good players, were given a stern examination of their abilities by Caldecote’s pressure play and not until late into the second half did they start to adapt to Gary Allum’s speed. Cally are very difficult to live with this year. On Totternhoe’s second attack Cally broke back and Gary scored. Then a sustained spell of Cally set pieces led to panic and a hand ball in the area and Ben smashed home the penalty. Gary added a third again exploiting the high offside line. Against the play Totternhoe broke through our centre to get one back just before half time Despite the excellent form of the Jack Layton, Lewis Cooper, Nick Price and the commanding Steven Capon, Cally came under pressure in the second half conceding a second. The battle to wrest back momentum was on and the midfield of Jay Billings, Lewis Dunne, Kieran Shaw-Flach and the excellent Phil Bright, all skill and tenacity, tackled like demons. Kieran has the happy knack of pulling three players towards him and then putting a ball through at the point at which you think he’s lost it. Goal s from Phil and Gary’s hat trick put the game beyond doubt. This was a good team performance, one of growing confidence. MoM Jack Layton three very encouraging games so far.

Luton Borough 0 Caldecote 2
Caldecote starting without substitutes gave no room for spare players or injuries. A strong start with a shot from Stephen and an excellent head by Scott just over the bar. Good midfield from George and Kieran kept play in the Luton half and it wasn't long before Scott connected and put Caldecote one up. Moments later Borough make a quick attack ending with a goal - but it was offside. Phil and Dunny were working well upfront with Gary making a number of shots that just couldn't seem to find their mark. Excitement as Borough battled through with a shot saved just off the Caldecote line only to be deflected back in and off the post. The second hald saw Caldecote on the attack again and a freekick taken short by Stephen over to Louis who lobbed it at the keeper who didn't get to it and Dunny put it away to make it 2-0 to Caldecote. Borough tried hard but couldn't find a response to Caldecote. Phil made a great effort on a long free kick going just wide and no further goals left it 2-0 to Caldecote. Stephen had a great match to take Man of the Match.

Caldecote 5 – Bushmead A 1
Early pressure from Caldecote resulted in Gary hitting the post after the opening few minutes of play. Both sides battled for possession with Caldecote maintaining the home advantage. Bushmead scored first inside 10 minutes of play making 1 -0 to the opposition. Gary equalised to make it 1 – 1 midway through the first half. Good attacking football was played by both sides with some good play from Phil, Jack, Stephen & Kieran. Gary scored his second from a great free kick from Ben our goalie deep inside our own half. Caldecote went down to ten men after Phil was injured; but he came back on after a short spell off the pitch. Caldecote made it 3 – 1 just before half-time to see Gary get his hat trick. The second-half started as well as the first seeing us win a corner from our first attempt on goal. Bushmead continued to battle hard despite Caldecote’s run of the play. Caldecote kept up the work rate playing some excellent football. Bushmead’s goalie kept them in the match with some great saves on goal. Gary finally breaks the deadlock scoring his fourth goal to make it 4 – 1 to the home side. The final score was 5 – 1 to Caldecote with Gary getting his fifth of the match. The U16’s make a brilliant start to the season winning the opening match, the Sandy Tournament together with the Olly Hall Memorial Match. Well Done, Gary, Jack, Stephen, Kieran, George, Ben, Scott, Lewis, Phil, Louis, & Nick. Match of the Match was awarded to Phil.
