Match Report from :

March 30th last league game of season

Caldecote 2 – Beds Park Rangers 2

A beautiful day for football with the sun shining, no wind and a close match for all spectators, this is what Sunday mornings are all about.Caldecote started well with Scott scoring two goals following in  from efforts by Nial who was destined not to score today. The Manager was pleased with the response from the players as they listened as the advice was to follow up any shots to pick up the pieces and guess what both goals were scored from this! Scott was awesome again and Nial did everything but score today. Isaac was strong in midfield setting up the second goal and Jack R winning every tackle and passing well. Matt was drafted in defence and let nothing past him and showing good ball control and well timed tackles.Michael didnt put a foot wrong and Brad made one of the saves of the season diving to his right tipping the ball away around the post. Lewis came on and was a rock in defence and under 10 Connor held up well against the older stronger boys. Scott came back on and despite Nials efforts the game was a draw. Matt was man of the match for an all round solid performance.

March 16th - friendly called off due to weather

March 9th

AFC Luton 4 – Caldecote 3

Yet another unlucky result for the boys as they were all over them from the start of the match creating some good chances on goal .Brad had a bad start to the game seeing them go 2-0 up but soon made up for it with some good saves .But the boys kept going with some good passes by Jack R. & Matty in mid field getting the ball up to Scott & Niall who broke through and got us a goal back 2-1 at half time .The second half Lewis & Nathan played hard in defence and Brad making more good saves .They pulled back another goal but we soon got the ball again with Jyak H. & Matty & Jack R. getting the ball up to Niall who got his second goal .Once again they pulled another goal back but the boys did not give up getting the ball up to Niall once again and he got his third final score 4-3 .The boys did not deserve to loose this one as they all played well .Man of the match went to Scott as he once again ran his socks off.

March 2nd

Caldecote 2 – Mid Beds Tigers 4

A good performance in the second half set up a thrilling match with two evenly matched sides. A rare unforced error by Brad in goal gave Mid Beds an early lead in the first half and saw Caldecote forced to defend. Lewis was strong and Nathan steady in defence. Matt gave good effort in midfield and Jack was the set piece expert this again this week taking goal kicks, corners and free kicks. Scott broke to left and crossed a superb low cross for Nial to nail the ball  into the back of the net. 3-1 half time and after a stern talk by the guv Caldecote took it to the opposition in the second half. Jack took a superb high corner and Scott scored one of the best goals of the season with a thundering header to the top corner 3- 2 game on. Brad made up for the early mistake with some outstanding saves and getting praise from the opposition Manager. Mid Beds had one class player who was involved in everything and of course he spoilt it for Caldecote scoring an individual winner. Nial captain for the day was superb with a great goal and effort winning man of the match.

Caldecote 0 - Lea Sports Pirton 8

Caldecote competed well against a far stronger Pirton side who are currently near the top of the league above. A depleted Caldecote side defended well but never really pressured Pirton. Ellis (an under ten) played well up front with Mattie twinkle toes and Isaac was instrumental in midfield tackling hard and putting lots of effort in. Jyak was superb and won man of the match with another strong midfield performance. Nathan and Lewis coped well with the continuous pressure and Brad stopped the score getting too high. A hard match to play but everyone put the effort in and thats all that was asked for.

Feb 3rd

Bedford FC 6 - Caldecote 1

Although the opposition were a different class and by far the best team in the league Caldecote battled well and defended relentlessly. Nial was superb in defence as was Nathan, both with well timed interceptions and tackles. Scott was the engine of the team and used his physical game to the max. Jack R was solid again in midfield and also covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Isaac and Charlie didnt see much ball up front but tackled back well and worked well together with some great passing moves. Brad saved several shots with every part of his body but his hands! and helped kept the score sheet low. Matt and Daniel came on in the second half. Daniel tried his best in defence with lots of effort and Matt had a good game in midfield. Jack R scored a cracking long range free kick realising the goalie wasnt very tall. Man of the match went to Scott for his physical efforts.

Jan 27th

Bedford FC B 7 – Caldecote 2

Caldecote had a good start to the match getting their 1st goal early on by a cracking shot from Scotty .They drew level not long after, but we once again broke through getting our second goal with some good team work, Charlie getting the goal. Again they got a goal back and then took the lead, finally ending the first half 4-2 to them. In the second half Lewis and Michael played hard in defence with Jack and Matty in midfield after substituting for Scot. Charlie and Nial both had some good shots at goal but could not seem to find the back of the net. Bedford scored three more times before the end of the game ending at 7-2 .The whole team deserved man of the match as they all put in a good effort.

Jan 20th - Free Week

Jan 13th

Bedford Panthers 3 – Caldecote  0

Caldecote can consider themselves unlucky today. They looked the better team and could well have won this match. Sloppy defending at yet another corner gave Panthers the lead. Jack R was class today with several long shots, free kicks and general good passing. Lewis shone in defence as did Nathan. Nial and Charlie played well up front with Nial hitting the bar with a tremendous header and Charlie a shot being tipped over the bar by the goalie. Matt, Michael and Scott worked hard. Don’t worry our luck has to change!

Jan 6th

Wootton 5  - Caldecote 1

Three soft goals lost Caldecote the game even though Caldecote were far the better team passing the ball around.Wootton better be prepared for the rematch at Caldecote as they will find it a lot more difficult and perhaps 'lady luck' will lend a helping hand as it did today for the home team. Caldecote had far the better players and had over ten attempts on goal with Jack hitting the crossbar, Charlie going close and Nial (captain for the day) shooting from all angles.Jack Riseborough had another solid game tackling well and all the team passed superbly with several impressive moves. The clinical finishing wasnt there today and together with bad luck Caldecote were destined for another defeat.Striker Charlie scored after following up well from a shot from Nial. Jyak Howarth stole the man of the match trophy today with a battling effort in midfield.

Dec 16th

Caldecote 0 – Brickhill 10  League Cup Group Match

Disappointing to say the least with Caldecote's biggest defeat for over two years ! Caldecote didnt look interested in the first half with some poor performances it has to be said. The first two or three goals were very soft with players stood still watching the ball whilst the opposition took advantage tapping in. Caldecote looked especially poor at the corners where no one took control. The second half saw an improvement in effort which is all the Manager asked for! Brad kept his head up and made some important saves but Brickhill's confidence was high and put several more in the back of the net. Lewis kept position well and made a couple of crunching tackles winning man of the match. Never mind boys this was a cup match against a side from a higher league and remember you never give up until the final whistle.Last training of the year Wednesday and a quck opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and thanks to all who have helped this year.

Dec 2nd

Caldecote 0 – Wilstead 8

The vistors were a different class and are by far the best team Caldecote has played against. Caldecote competed well in the first half conceeding three goals. Mattie was draughted into defence with Michael and both battled well. Scott and Jack held the midfield and Isaac and Nial were up front but had few chances. The best going to Nial who volleyed over the bar. Charlie and Lewis came on in the second half , Charlie showing his class again and Lewis tackling hard, but the whole team struggled with the continuous pressure.Jack went close with a trade mark free kick. Brad won man of the match with some outstanding goal keeping. Brad coped with over twenty five shots on goal and all but one of Wilstead's goals were unstoppable.

Nov 25th

Bedford Park Rangers 1  - Caldecote   6

The best performance ever by Caldecote giving a well deserved away win. Caldecote passed the ball around the park which was the key in this match. Isaac scored a hatrick, with the first a twenty yard screamer. Jack R scored a superb solo effort with a left foot shot. Scott and Charlie also scored  with the build up involving passing between the players. Michael didn't put a foot wrong in defence with old reliable Nathan taking charge at the back. Lewis came on in second half and again impressed with twinkle toes Matt passing well setting up a couple of goals. Brad gets better and better in goal.Jack R won man of the match for his efforts and team work. Training is finally paying off- brilliant boys well done.

Nov 18th

BPR  3  Caldecote  0

This was a cup match & Caldecote were playing a side who were in the league above them. A soft goal gave Caldecote a bad start but they held Bedford in the first half to a narrow 2  - 0 lead. Lewis was excellent in defence with Jyak in midfield & the workhorse Scott showing his fitness covering every inch of the pitch. Nathan looked confident in defence & was Captain for the day.Mattie showed skill up front & passed well with Michael supporting & getting stuck in. Scott went close as did Nathan & Michael all with good shots on goal after tactical changes in positions were made. Bradley kept his confidence & made several important saves in the second half.An excellent effort from the remaining members of the team who weren't at Cub Camp proving they can compete at a higher level.

Caldecote 2 – AFC Luton 2

Effort is what its all about and what matters. Caldecote showed great character after going 1  - 0 down in the first half to lead 2  - 1 in the second. Luton equalised in the last couple of minutes of the match. Charlie won man of the match this week not because he scored both goals but due to the effort he put in. Scott again gave everything and Jack R shone in the midfield.Mattie showed good skill and passed well setting one of the goals up. Jack H was solid in defence with Nial supporting in the second half and on his own in defence in the first.Brad made crucial saves to keep Caldecote in the match. Well done boys the effort was there for everyone to see.

Mid Beds Tigers 2 – Caldecote 0

Caldecote arrived at Great Barford with only seven players this week due to illness and holidays. It turned out to be the magniffcant seven as they all worked so hard and didnt deserve to lose to an average looking Mid Beds side.Natahan was superb at the back together with Jyak putting in some unorthadox but crunching tackles .Scott Isaac Nial and Michael all played their hearts out but the ball just wouldnt go in. The crossbar and post were hit several times by these three. Michael filled in well in defence in the second half winning the man of the match. Mid Beds had two shots on goal which went in !

7th Oct

Caldecote 1  -  Bedford FC 6

Bedford were a different class in the first half passing the ball around the park with Caldecote struggling to touch the ball. Caldecote were asleep and this didn't help matters and Bedford scored 5 mainly soft goals in the first half. Nathan and Lewis coped as  well as they could in defence. A strong team talk half time saw Caldecote compete in the second half (at last). Some players also played out of position which worked and the second half was a  1   1  draw. Scott impressed in midfield, Nial at the back and Isaac's effort was visible winning him the man of the match.Keep you head up Brad you cant stop goals every time! Looking forward to the next match and some improvement in effort boys.

30th Sept

Beds Park Rangers 1 – Caldecote 3

The first win of the season for the under 11's. This was going to be a close contest from the start, as the previous fixtures last year suggested. Nial  chased well up front with a couple of chances going astray. Isaac scored first with a low shot to the left corner. Brad saved well and for one save used his nose to keep the ball out causing a bleed, so went off for a few minutes to be patched up . Mattie stepped in goal to cover but couldn't keep out a rocket shot from the opposition. Charlie passed well and scored an individual effort. The defence was solid with Lewis and man of the match Nathan 'THE ROCK ' clearing up well. Jack R showed everyone how to tackle and went close with a free kick .Mattie took on the defence twisting and turning scoring an excellent solo effort. So good passing and teamwork today. Pity it was only a friendly match!

23rd Sept

Caldecote 2  -  Bedford Panthers 3

Caldecote had yet another good game. They started well being very strong all over the pitch making good passes and some strong defending by Jack H. and Lewis keeping Bedford Panthers at bay. Brad had yet another brilliant game making some good saves. Bedford Panthers got the first goal from a corner what bounced of one of there players knees. Jack R. and Matty ran there socks of in midfield getting the ball up to Nial and Charlie who both were making some good crosses to each other which created the first goal for us by Charlie. Not long after we got a second goal that Nial put in the back of the net (2:1). We started well in the second half with Nathan coming on in defence with Jack H. when they got the equalizer. We kept the pressure on creating some good shoots at goal and Brad making more good saves but they got a lucky shot that gave them the win but we still kept going try to get that goal back. Another promising performance by the boys .Man of the match went to Charlie.

16th Sept

Caldecote 0 - Wootton   2

Caldecote were confident in doing well in this match as they had two very close matches last season against Wootton. The oppostions best player was clearly one of the defenders who spoilt several of Caldecotes  attacks. Bradley in goal looked comfortable and made some important saves in the first half and his goal kicks were much more efective this week.Only one goal was scored in the first half giving the opposition the lead.Lewis, in defence, timed his tackles and interceptions perfectly and didn't put a foot wrong winning him the man of the match award. He was supported by Jyak Howarth who after a short spell settled down into his first match of the season. Nial supported by Isaac up front battled well but the Wootton defence held strong and only a spectacular overhead kick attempt was the closest he got to test the goalie. Scott in midfield again put 100% effort in covering the whole pitch. Changes were made with Jack R and Mattie coming on with Charlie up front. Nathan was a rock in defence reading the game well and clearing the ball at crucial times.  Jack R had a quiet game but rattled the crossbar from a long range free kick with the supporters ooing and aarghing. Charlie passed well throughout the game and put Isaac through who unfortunately shot wide one on one with the goalie. Several more chances went astray and Wootton scored the second winning the game. Caldecote look forward to the rematch away from home. Some promising performances by the team, well done boys.

9th Sept

Under 11’s

Wilstead  4    Caldecote  2

A great match to start the season with. Wilstead were playing in the league above Caldecote last season and came second in that league. They looked a good side from the off passing the ball around well. Caldecote were not phased by this and played their own game closing down the opposition quickly and harassing them well. The defence was solid with Nathan and Lewis battling strongly. Bradley our new goalkeeper began a bit nervously but settled down making some fine saves. Michael and Isaac worked together up front whilst Matt and Jack ran their socks off in midfield. Wilstead scored three goals in the first half and the second half brought some changes with Scott and Nial coming on. Nial looked his sharp old self scrapping and pouncing on the ball up front and his tenacity paid off with a well taken goal. Bradley grew with confidence in goal and carried out some cracking saves winning him the man of the match on his debut. Wilstead scored only one more time in the second half and again Nial scored a second. Isaac hit the crossbar from a corner from Jack and Matt had particularly good game. A promising start for Caldecote. WELL DONE BOYS ( we won the second half 2-1)
