Caldecote 4 – 1 Elstow Abbey Colts
On a very windy day Cally decided to kick into the wind and up the hill for the first half. Fully expecting a tough 35 mins we started with a defensive 4-5-1.With the strong winds blowing everything towards the Cally goal the boys done very well to hold out as Elstow created wave after wave of attack. But with 10 mins of the half left our goalie josh took a short one to Jason who quickly found James in the midfield who in turn played a lovely forward ball to Nick wide out right, he cut inside the full back and unleashed an unstopable shot into the net. Half time 1-0 to Cally. Now with the hill and the wind behind us we went to a more attacking 4-4-2 and very soon after half time it was 2-0 with supersub Woody turning on a sixpence to convert. Elstow soon replyed with a well taken goal but you could sense Callys dominence and that dominence soon payed off when JT went around three players and slotted home. At this stage it really did look comfortable and it got even more so when JT added his second and Callys forth. Cally continued to dominate the game and with the new defensive pairing of Luke and man of the match Andrew Elstow never got another look in. Last friday nights training the main focus was on how to read a game and on this performence it looks like we are starting our first novel.

Potton colts 4 v Cally u-14s 3 county cup
The lads may have lost this very closely fought contest but they can hold there heads up high as they put in the kind of battling performance that showed just what they can do when the shape and commitment is right. But for better finishing in front of goal they would have been in the next round. Having said that credit must be given to Potton who were 3-1 down at half time and battled back to win. Man of the match Ross looks to have found his best position in the holding midfield roll and the twins (Jamie & Aron) are a welcome addition to the midfield. Up front Josh and JT worked tirelessly and never stopped trying. The back three of Scott, Andrew and Luke will soon settle in to the new roll of playing three at the back and if the boys keep playing like this results are sure to follow.

Under 14’s
Bedford Panthers 2 v Caldecote 3
Cally started their season on a bright note with a victory in their 1st game. Starting with Nick up front for the first time seemed like a good move as he got two of the three goals and both were well taken. New signing James Luff got the other and with his twin brother Aaron in midfield these two will be important to the team as the season progresses. A great start to the game saw Cally two up within the first 15 mins and I must say looking comfortable. But never underestimate the Panthers as they regrouped well and started coming on strong towards the end of the half pulling a goal back. The second half saw our defence weakened by Andrew Stadnyk's injury and JT had to drop back to cover him. A third goal was added making it 3-1.Once again the Panthers came on strong pulling a goal back making it 3-2.The back line of Luke, Scott, Jason and JT were playing well beyond their years and keeping an excellent line and most of the Panthers attacks were broken down by the off-side trap. When they did break through they had Josh to beat and once again he played a blinder with one double save that was as good as anything you will see this year. Things may be on the up as the corresponding fixture last year ended in a 5-0 loss.
