This week saw Caldecote face away. Despite the bad the weather, Eastcotts started the match with some solid attacks from the outset, which resulted in Caldecote conceding five goals in fairly quick succession. After a determined Tyler managed to battle his way through the defence and beat the keeper with a lucky rebound, Caldecote seemed to “wake up” and begin getting stuck in. However, although they played much better in the second half with both Tyler and Michael scoring some good goals and Pat performing some crucial saves, Caldecote really had left themselves too much to do this time. Final score 11 – 4. Team. Pat, Ross, Sam, Blake, Elliot, Daniel P, Simon, Yatesy, Liam P, Michael, Tyler. Man of the match went to Laurence.

Caldecote 7 – Crawley Green B 7
This week saw Caldecote face Crawley Green at home. Although Caldecote seemed to start the match well they conceded two goals early on. However, Caldecote kept their heads up and minds focused and really took the game to the opposition. With the midfield and forwards all pressing up on each attack, both Michael and Tyler were able to beat the Crawley keeper with a superb finish. They then managed to follow this up with two further goals before the half time whistle. 4 – 2 at half time. Crawley Green started the second half with substitutions, whose "fresh legs" unfortunately took their toll on a slightly tiring Caldecote, who were without subs for the day. In spite of Patrick performing some great saves, Crawley scored four more goals and were once again ahead by two. Undeterred by this "minor set-back" Caldecote got stuck in and were able to find enough energy to score three goals to regain the lead for a second time, with Blake and Ross both getting their first goals of the season. Unfortunately for the lads Crawley Green didn’t give up either and managed to get a late equalizer in the last minutes of the game. I can think of only one word to sum up this match “EPIC”. A fantastic performance by the whole team. Pat, Toby, Liam P, Laurence, Elliot, Ross, Blake, Daniel P, Tyler, Michael. Man of the Match went to “Simon” for a great performance from the beginning.

AFC Luton 3 – Caldecote 2
Caldecote started the match well putting AFC Luton under pressure from the outset. And although they managed to find the back of the net in the first 10 minutes, it was unfortunate to be flagged off-side. The home side took this as a bit of a wakeup call and came back with some solid attacks which resulted in three shots on goal, each finding the back of the net. After such a promising start, it looked as if Caldecote may lose focus, until a slight mix up by the Luton keeper, gave a quick thinking Simon the chance to steal the ball and put it away. 3 - 1 at half time. The majority of second half was played in Luton’s end and saw Caldecote show the level of football that they are capable of playing. With an organised defence stopping the opposition going anywhere near the goal and the midfield and forwards working well to produce repeated attacks on goal, Caldecote battled well with shots going just wide, over the crossbar and even hitting the post. Before Billy finally managed to beat the Luton defence and score his first goal of the season. Final score 3 - 2. Well done to the whole team Pat, Toby, Sam, Laurence, Blake, Ross, Matty, Simon, Yatesy, Tyler, Michael, Billy. Man of the Match went to Daniel P.

Caldecote 1 – Bedford Panthers 10
The first match of the season saw Caldecote playing their first "home" game on a drenched pitch at Chicksands RAF base against Bedford Panthers. Bedford Panthers scored early on from a corner, but Caldecote were quick to respond with a superbly worked goal. The midfield working hard, before Daniel Prynne provided a great to cross to Mathew Statham who had to no problem finishing. Unfortunately Bedford Panthers were able to put three more away before half time, despite many of the players on both teams having to literally wade their way through large sections of the pitch. 4 - 1 at half time. With more rain adding to an almost submerged pitch, Caldecote were unable to respond in the second half. Bedford Panthers scoring a further 6 goals. In spite of the disappointing score line, it was encouraging to see numerous players giving a 110%. Sam, Blake, Daniel P, Mathew to name a few. But man of match went deservedly to Ross "the frogman" Fury for an outstanding performance in midfield. Our thanks also go to Rob who arranged the pitch at short notice for us. Thank You.
