Bedford Town Youth B0 – 6Caldecote B
Caldecote went into this tricky away fixture needing a win to put a poor performance in the last away game to rest. The first 10 minutes where frantic, with the Bedford defence somehow holding out. Zach, Max and Jake owned the midfield and our first goal eventually came with Max getting the opener. More pressure resulted in another goal from Jake who was having the game of his life. Ben led the line upfront keeping the pressure constantly on the home team. In defence Josh and Owen cleared any Bedford attacks with Finlay commanding his areas. 2-0 half time. Second half continued in the same way with Bedford coming under immediate pressure. Ben robbed the defender from a slack clearance from the keeper and drove the ball in from outside the area to make it 3-0. Max and Jake made chance after chance and Zach then went on a mazy run to make it 4-0. Two minutes later Zach struck a free kick to make it 5-0. Slight tactical change saw Owen move up front with 5 minutes to go and he scored with his first shot. All the boys played fantastic and all deserved Man of the Match.

Caldecote “B” 3 - Bedford Town Colts 3
Caldecote Youth B started brightly against Bedford Town Colts, the two teams were very evenly matched and the first half was a battle of wits. For 20 minutes both teams attacked and counter attacked, Finley, Ewan and Josh were solid in defence and Jake, Zach and Max kept the ball moving forward from midfield to Ben who was like a terrier attacking the Bedford goal. It looked like we would break for half time all even, but a late substitution for an injured Josh saw final push by Caldecote resulting in Jack scoring just before the half time whistle was blown. The second half started in much the same way as the first, both teams pushing to score. Caldecote took the initiative with push after push piling pressure on the Bedford defence, half way through the second half Max sent a ball in from the right wing which somehow found the top corner of the net, this was closely followed by a free kick from Zach which just skimmed the cross bar. Jake scored Caldecotes 3rd goal with only 10 minutes to go and confidence was high, Ben, Jake, Max and Zach sending ball after ball into the Bedford goal area, but this confidence seemed to be our downfall with Bedford coming back into the game by scoring 3 very fast goals in the last 5 minutes. Some things to work on in training but in all a great effort by the boys on a very warm day. Man of the match was given to all 8 players for the second week running.

Caldecote 6 – Bedford Panthers 0
Caldecote entered the first game of the season in good spirits. A full summer training programme and the pre-season Sandy tournament meant reasonable preparation. Caldecote started with assurance and dominated possession for the first few minutes. Three new players added over the summer Max, Josh and Finlay fed into the team well. The midfield battle was soon underway with Max and Jack R looking comfortable and Zach leading the way. Five minutes in Caldecote took the lead from a corner that Zach swung straight in. Two minutes later it was 2-0 with another fine effort from Zach beating the defence and the goalkeeper from close range. As the half settled Ben and Jack started to create space and this worked well for the best goal of the game. A quick clearance from Ewan fed Ben who turned smartly to feed a charging run from Jack Rice who went on to make it three nil. Josh W making his first start for Caldecote played out of his skin with Ewan at the back looking assured as ever. Closing minutes of the first half saw Ben open his tally for the season with a smart shot from a Bedford clearance giving the goalkeeper no chance. Second half saw Bedford raise their game and Finlay in goal had to make some good saves to keep them out. Jake S working tirelessly finally got his reward sweeping in a cross from Max who did everything but score on his debut. Bedford then struck back with two quick goals one from open play and then a penalty from a fortunate handball. Ben A finished the game with his second and Caldecotes last to make it final score 6-2. Well done team great start to the season. Man of the match all 8 players.
